Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were wounded while residents in the city's east were plunged into darkness and encountered interruptions to water systems, per reports from city officials.

Simultaneously, a minor was lost their life in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the southern area, according to local officials.

Moscow has intensified attacks on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in providing protection systems and implementing sanctions," mentioned in a social media post.

He said that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 projectiles attacked the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the city experienced intense attacks during nighttime hours. A young boy lost their life and three other people were hurt.

The strikes follow evenings of aerial attacks in the territory, parts of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to spot.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with strikes already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and authorities were anticipating additional strikes.
